The Speech of Hong Kong Chief Executive I , 2018
silkscreen, jade stamp, calendar
This piece is a recap of the former chief executive. Two stamps were made and inspired by his public speeches: “every single grain is the fruit of hard work" and “there is room for discussion on whether or not to withdraw the moral and national education subject.” On the left side, two speeches are elaborated in traditional Chinese style, whereas the couplets on the right side are extended from the patterns on the stamp. The characters became decorative and meaningless symbols. In the center, there is a picture of the current chief executive. The couplets were customized and the lunar calendar is defined by the meaning of “every single grain is the fruit of hard work,” and the content is political achievements of the former chief executive.
